BIODIVERSITY REVIEW CALLS FOR MASSIVE NATURE POSITIVE LAW REFORM

The 5 year review of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act has revealed that our laws are failing to protect the environment, and are in fact facilitating extinction and ecosystem collapse.

The review finds that we need a new nature positive approach to environmental law and decision making. It has made 58 recommendations, including that our environment protection laws should overrule all other laws and the interests of developers and industry.

The Greens have secured a massive inquiry into the NSW planning system that will be examining how planning laws and powers are not dealing with the climate crisis and are failing communities and the environment. Our planning laws are where so much environmental harm and destruction is authorised. If we are to make NSW Nature Positive our planning laws need an overhaul.

We will soon be calling for submissions and evidence from people about the calamitous state of the Environment in NSW. Sign up so we can keep you up to date on this critical campaign.
